Castle 'B'
scoop a Cup double

They finished
bottom of Divison One but, boosted by several 'A' team
players, won the Guardian Trophy and the Sid Lane Trophy
24 hours later.
In the Guardian Trophy Castle 'B' won their semi-final
against Bourne Town 'B' on all four rinks before
clinching a tighter final against Spalding Town. Town had
drawn rinks 2-2 with Ayscoughfee in their semi-final, but
a big 36-8 win for Cliff Searson with Graham Chappell and
Tony Baily was the backbone of the team's passage. Town
were a little slow out of blocks in the final and Castle
'B' were looking comfortable at 48-28 after ten ends.
Town then put together a better second half of the final,
although only Ian Lawson with Martin and Phil Spencer
managed a rink win.
Results: Bourne Town 'B' 55 v Castle 'B' 102; Spalding
Town 87 v Ayscoughfee 68. Final - Town 66 Castle 'B' 94.
In the Sid Lane Trophy Castle 'B' beat Holbeach United
Services 70-57. |
